There are essentially only 4 outside edge mechanics that the best NHL players use to dominate! These 4 fundamental outside edge mechanics include: 1. Outside edge roll (Most fundamental) 2. Crossunder 3. Punch turn 4. Shuffle _______________________________________________________________ Outside edge roll The ability to roll on and off your outside edge is the most underrated and under-practice use of the outside edge. I included 3 different examples of outside edge rolls, although there are infinite ways you can roll from edge to edge 1. Most common: Rolling from outside edge to inside edge into a wide corkscrew position (Barzal and Matthews) 2. Rolling from outside to inside edge exiting a turn (Marner) 3. Rolling from inside to outside edge into a crossunder (McDavid) Crossunder Most refer to the crossunder as the crossover. However, at Train 2.0 we use the term crossunder as it's a better description of what the mechanic entails at the highest level. - The difference is in the language not the movement.
