In today’s language challenge, we’ll be comparing some of the similarities between two Indo-European languages which are classified as Indo-Iranian, Persian and Gujarati, with Mahtab, a Persian speaker from Iran, and Richa, a Gujarati speaker from India challenging each other with a list of words and sentences. It is notable that Gujarati was the mother tongue of both Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Persian language has had a major influence on Gujarati, in addition to the two languages sharing common Indo-European roots. The Persian language (Farsi) is classified as one of the Western Iranian languages. In addition to Gujarati, Persian has had a huge impact on many other languages and cultures, mainly in the Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia and holds official status is Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan.
