Olive Wood Thinline Telecaster | Build Ep.1 Body & Neck

Making a Thinline Telecaster in olive wood, this is my new guitar build project. I love Telecasters and recently olive wood has become a favourite wood of mine for using in guitar builds. So this build is is blending my two favourite things. I have been wanting to build a thinline telecaster for a long time now but I wanted to make it slightly different to the norm and it also needed to be special for me. This is the first episode in the build series, it covers making the neck and body, deciding on what pickups and hardware to use and covers all aspects of construction. The next episode will cover everything from the finishing onwards. I hope you enjoy the build and thanks for watching! 0:00 Video Intro 0:17 Choosing wood for the thinline Telecaster 0:53 Thinline Tele history and Carbon rod & Truss rod installation 2:39 Cutting the guitar neck shape 3:00 Headstock thicknessing 3:16 Fretboard preparation 3:30 Fret slotting 3:42 Cutting fretboard to shape 4:00 Glue fretboard to neck 4:40 Finalise fretboard shape 4:50 Radiusing fretboard 5:01 Install fret markers on neck 5:25 Install neck side dots 5:56 Fret installation 6:55 Fret ends and bevel 7:35 Body wood prep 7:50 Marking up the Telecaster outline 8:25 Cutting the guitar body 8:40 Hollowing the guitar body 9:00 Marking up the olive wood guitar top 9:23 Cutting the olive wood guitar top 9:30 Gluing the top to the guitar body 9:46 A look at the guitar body with olive top 10:16 Neck pocket 11:20 Checking neck pocket depth 12:53 Installing guitar binding 14:03 How to position a guitar bridge 15:15 Drilling string-through body holes 15:27 Pickup positioning and routing 15:37 Control cavity markup and routing 16:40 Drilling wiring cavities & Jack socket 17:13 Thicknessing a guitar neck 17:39 Marking up and carving a guitar neck 18.14 Guitar reveal and thoughts 19:35 Next steps My Links Website If you would like to know more about the guitars I build you can visit my website here: https://www.tornelliguitars.com/ Instagram I post progress of my guitar builds, things that people may find useful and anything guitar related that entertaining here:   / tornelli_guitars   Where i get my Luthiery supplies: https://tlcguitargoods.com/en/ What influences me in my guitar building? I have found their content invaluable over the years. I love building guitars! Join me as I build original design electric guitars and share my guitar building tips and tricks.
