Climbing Monster Tower

For our penultimate class we finally allowed ourselves to set our eyes on the Monster Tower. Specifically the free route called the North Ridge. On a previous trip to Washer Woman Tower, during belays we would both stare at the route on the Monster. Long undulating crack systems between what looked like death block alleys, towering high in the sky and unbelievably narrow… it scared us both half to death! This time, we made a rule to not look at the monster that haunted us until we got to the very base. Because for us, climbs don’t look so bad from the very bottom; and we had four days of training for this! So we set off and up, with our heads down. Climbing in the Land of Canyons is one of the most wild and breathtaking experiences imaginable. And with that comes this massive privilege. The park has some regulations that you won’t see everywhere in Moab. So please read up and show the park that climbers are the best user group around!
