Date: 2021-09-23 IWAD: hexen.wad Category: Pope Speed (Skill 5) Map: HexAll Sourceport: Hexen-plus 1.1.5 Time: 23:06 Starting the game as the Cleric in Pope difficulty in really a pain in the ass. You only have the Mace of Contrition... And you need at last 6-8 slashes to kill one enemy... So I'll use a lot of Flechettes :P The grid skip at the start is possible but the cleric dies before entering the teleporter... So I'm using the normal route with the Sliding doors trick (after the emerald key) in the first map. I really need the Serpent Staff to deal with enemies: I know Flechettes could be useful, but I need them for later. The first and easiest Serpent Staff to get is located in the Guardian of Steel. Once I get it, I can easily use the final door skip to exit the Hub 1 (Seven Portals). I killed the 3 Serpents to take the first part of the Wraithverge safely. In the Hub 2 (Shadow Wood), I need to take a Porkalator and some Boots of Speed before fighting the Dragon. So I head off to the Wastelands, killing 10 Ettins to open the path... Once I get back to the Shadow Wood, I just need to grab the Firestorm and use the final door skip to enter the Hypostyle and defeat the Dragon... Actually, I can't easily skip that map with the Cleric, so I prefered to do the map normally. I have to solve 4 rooms before the hub boss. The second part of the Wraithverge is in the Slaughtaur room. Using the Firestorm against the Dragon makes the fight kinda easy. The Hub 3 (Heresiarch's Seminary) is really simple. All I need to do here is to take the last part of the Wraithverge to complete the weapon, then leave the Hub. To do that, I have to activate 6 switches to open the path to the last piece (I prefer not doing the glide in this skill). Once I get the complete Wraithverge, I can head off to the Hub 4 (Castle of Grief) with a grid skip. Overall, I find Hub 3 was really slow haha. In Castle of Grief, all I need to do is pressing 4 switches outside of the castle and pressing 5 switches on castle walls. The upper side is really deadly, that's why I bringed up so many Quartz Flask... When the switches are pressed, I need to pickup 4 gears to activate the clock tower. I took the Dark Servant and went to the Gibbet. In the gibbet, I need to defeat the Heresiarch to access the Hub 5: Necropolis. So I took the last Porkalator I need, and I secure the room before doing the void glide. Skipping the Heresiarch fight is really hard with the Cleric. so I decided to fight him anyway. The Heresiarch isn't immune to the Cleric's Flechettes, even with his shield. Easy fight :) I Skipped the whole Necropolis with the Boots of Speed near Zedek's Tomb. You still need the speed boost to be able to clip in bounds with the Bishop. Welcome to Dark Crucible. Finally, Korax. I initially wanted to skip entirely the fight... But the void glide was too inconsistent with the Cleric. So I just spam-attacked the Wraithverge and use all the Kraters of Might of the map to get rid of him haha. Time isn't that good, but my goal was sub30 :D
