FCPX Line Tracker Tutorial

store.pixelfilmstudios.com/product/fcpx-line-tracker/ Welcome to an FCPX Line Tracker Tutorial from Pixel Film Studios In this tutorial, we’ll be going over… Tracking the Line and Using the Ruler Let’s get started. ————————————————————————————————————— In this example, we will be tracking the movement of two of the cars in this scene. Let’s place a couple markers using the shortcut M to define where our line track will start and end. Next, find the FCPX Line Tracker in Final Cut Pro’s Titles Library and place it directly on top of your media starting at your first marker. You can adjust the handles to retime the preset. ————————————————————————————————————— Once applied, you can track the first point, or the starting point. Grab the tracking box and place it onto the area you want to track. You can adjust the size of the box for a more accurate track. Then, find the Track Point 1 Controls and hit the Track Forward button to begin tracking. Once the track has completed, change the Control Viewer setting to Track Point 2. Refresh the controls by deselecting the preset and then reselecting it. This will populate the new tracking box for Track Point 2. Grab the tracking box and place it onto the area you want to track. Then, find the Track Point 2 Controls and hit the Track Forward button to track the second point. Once the track has completed, change the Control Viewer setting to On-Screen Controls. Your line will now appear in the Viewer window. Refresh the controls to populate the On-Screen Controls. Use the On-Screen Controls to easily resize start and end points and to offset them from the track. ————————————————————————————————————— Next, we will go over using the ruler presets. FCPX Line Tracker comes with two ruler presets. Ruler 1 changes its’ measurement as the distance between the two points changes. Ruler 1 is great for measuring the distance between moving subjects. Ruler 2 retains the same measurement even as the distance between the two points changes. Ruler 2 can be used for measuring the length or distance of stationary objects in a scene with camera movement. Rulers come with a variety of options. You can change the Start Value. Adjust the value difference between points. Resize the digits. Control the amount of points. Change the point origin. And offset the position of the values and hatch marks. For more information on individual controls, consult the included Instructions Guide. This has been tutorial from Pixel Film Studios.
