For an instrument of such simple construction, there are a multiplicity of ways to approach a frame drumming practice. Here I'm fully improving in the moment and had no idea when I picked up the drum what I was going to play. I'm feeling my way into playing the drum as opposed to thinking my way in. I'm not sure if other people could pick up on that or not... BTW - I have nothing against thinking out one's rhythms and compositions before attempting to play them live and even memorizing them, lol! - I love to do that too! Just not every time I pick up the drum to play. Both ways of playing are great for very different reasons. Planning what you will play, notating it, and memorizing it. Playing with pure spontaneity, spacious awareness, and intuition.
