Assistant Professor, Section of Vascular Surgery Faculty Planner Chandu Vemuri, M.D. Associate Professor, Section of Vascular Surgery Faculty co-planner COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completing this course, the participant will be able to: 1. Describe and contrast the three types of thoracic outlet syndrome (arterial, venous, and neurogenic), including their most common methods of presentation. 2. Understand and utilize evidence-based approach to thoracic outlet syndrome, including diagnostic testing, physical exam maneuvers, risk reduction strategies and provocative scalene injections. 3. Understand and apply treatment options for venous thoracic outlet syndrome with venous thromboembolism, including catheter-based lytic therapy followed by short interval thoracic outlet decompression. 4. Understand and apply treatment options for arterial thoracic outlet syndrome with subclavian aneurysms, including aneurysm exclusion and bypass with concomitant thoracic outlet decompression. 5. Understand the approaches for surgical management of neurogenic, arterial, and venous thoracic outlet syndrome, including catheter-based therapies, supraclavicular approach and transaxillary approach.
