ABOUT THE MUSIC CENTER'S SPOTLIGHT GRAND FINALE The Music Center's Spotlight Grand Finale features an evening of unforgettable performances by our 14 Spotlight Grand Prize Finalists at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Join us to celebrate the culmination of a multi-faceted year-long journey by these incredibly talented high school artists who are part of the Spotlight program. 00:00 Introduction by Suzanna Guzmán 00:25 Interview with Lilliana Mindel 03:02 Lilliana Mindel performs "Willow Song" ABOUT LILLIANA MINDEL Lilliana Mindel, 16, is a junior at The Orange County School of the Arts in the Classical Voice Conservatory. She studies voice with Kathleen Martin and also works with Vera Calabria and Bill Vendice. Awards include: Opera Buffs Young Artist Competition, 4th Place (2023); Schmidt Vocal Competition, 3rd Place (2023); Music International Gran Prix, LA District, 2nd Place (2023); and National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Cal-Western, 3rd place (2023). She performed a Youth Principal role in ‪@laopera‬ 's Las Tres Mujeres de Jerusalem (2022) and is an ambassador of the LA Opera Connects. Lilliana would like to thank her parents, Kathleen Martin and her team, and her dog Daisy for all of their love and support throughout her musical journey. This is Lilliana’s first year participating in Spotlight. ABOUT SPOTLIGHT Much more than a competition, Spotlight provides performing arts scholarships and artistic development to empower high school students by emphasizing preparation, courage, critical thinking and perseverance while providing an invaluable opportunity for students to hone their skills! Southern California High School students of ALL skill levels are encouraged to apply for FREE. $100,000 in cash scholarships are awarded each year to students along with personalized feedback, eligibility for mastery classes with world-renowned artists and more! Categories include Acting, Ballet, Classical Instrumental, Classical Voice, Dance, Contemporary Instrumental Music and Non-Classical Voice.
