The engine ECU controls the injection of the fuel to the engine and the timing of the spark to ignite it. It determines the position of the rotation using a Crankshaft Position Sensor so that the injectors and ignition system are activated at precisely the correct time. It uses also number of sensor to read the status of the engine in order to run the engine at optimum performance. The subject includes ways to check the ECU and follow the various signals and use the signal generator and an oscilloscope to view the signals, this is explaining step by step methods to trace the signals on the ECU board without circuit diagram.
