Lost Light Speed Sub Driver 2.0 Surfboard Review

Ian reviews the Lost Light Speed Sub Driver 2.0 surfboard: https://www.boardshop.co.uk/surfboard... The Lost Sub Driver 2.0 is Matt Biolos declares the best small wave performance surfboard he's created so far and its now available in the all conquering Light Speed tech. The Sub Driver 2.0’s curvy, hyper extended rail rocker creates a hinge under the rear foot and counterbalances the low, flat tail rocker, enabling it to be surfed tight and vertical in the pocket, as well as the already speedy down the line drive. The Sub Driver 2.0 is the latest iteration in the continuing evolution of Lost's most user friendly, pro-formance shortboard. This board has been developed in the soft peeling points of San Clemente, it loves small to average surf and really does well in connecting the dots in mushy points, or weak, broken up beach breaks like we get most of the time in the UK. A surfboard developed for competitors in sub-par surf, that actually transitions perfectly to everyday surfers as a go to board. There are updates to this version, an even wider, more forgiving, nose which is designed to increase forward drive for us mortals and lend more stability for hot shots landing radical airs. The wider nose creates a straighter forward outline which paddles into waves easier and subsequently builds forward momentum faster in our standard sub-par surf. The wide tail creates a stable platform, especially in small waves, and the hip breaks the rail line and creates a pivot point to make tight, powerful turns easier in average surf. This makes it easier for normal surfers to ride a performance shape even in poor surf. The Sub Driver 2.0 benefits from a little extra volume and slightly more generous dimensions giving Pros more glide and momentum and the Bros get to ride a forgiving shortboard the same as their idols. The board has added thickness along the stringer line with increased vee and more refined rails which together with lowered rail volume makes for tighter turns and make a responsive board that still floats through flats, and surfs in a more forgiving way. There is a deeper concave in the rear third of the board, which transitions from a modest forward concave, and then a more curvy rail line through the front fins. This then accelerates upward to a slight vee behind the rear fin and out the tail all designed to make turns easier. There is a good amount of double concave through the tail, adding lift and helping the water squirt through and release. The all new Light Speed technology is Lost's proprietary surfboard construction built with lightweight EPS foam and high strength epoxy resin. LightSpeed uses a combination of Rapid-Reflex Carbon Fibre as well vibration dampening Innegra-Fibers which are woven into high quality performance fiberglass cloth. Like the name implies, LightSpeed is both light and exceptionally fast to surf, reminiscent of Lost's Carbon Wrap tech but better! This tech gives faster response to your turns and so has a more snappy feel, basically you come out of your turns faster and keep that speed. It works in a good range of shortboards from higher volume grovel type boards through to more performance based shortboards. The LightSpeed tech is a step forward for sure in the way that it improves performance and through the epoxy construction gives your board a much longer life in terms of its top end performance, it won't deaden over time like PU boards do. Don't forget you can also order a custom version of this board choosing your exact dims, fin set up and fin system, check out our customizer service at Boardshop right now. All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a deposit with the balance due when we send you the board. Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Lost surfboards across Europe and beyond.
