Mystery Vacuum Leak SOLVED 2002 Ford Ranger 2.3L (Intake Manifold Plug Replacement)

This is part 1 of a two part series showing how to dissemble a 2002 Ford Ranger 2.3L to get to fuel injectors (including information about how to replace the O rings on them and reinstall) or to replace intake manifold gasket, and how to plug the plug hole in the intake manifold that can pop out and cause a mysterious vacuum leak. If you have a leak that you can't identify where it's coming from, but it seems like it's around cylinder 1, this may be your issue. Part 2 can be found here (   • Mystery Vacuum Leak SOLVED 2002 Ford ...  ) and involves putting it all back together. Special thanks to "Tanker3278" on the Ranger Forum. Once I figured out what was causing the vacuum, I found this thread (https://www.ranger-forums.com/dohc-2-...) and used Tanker's idea for the brass plug, as opposed to other fixes they tried that were not successful in the long term. Also, I say "doohickey" a lot. If you'd like the actual names of parts involved in this video, check out the thread, with pictures and accurate names.
