Full Hotel Tour and Review of the Marriott Chateau Champlain, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

My TripAdvisor Review: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR... This is going to be a Full Hotel Tour and Review of the Marriott Chateau Champlain (Champlain Castle) also known by some as the Cheese Grater Tower, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This is Overall, a VERY BEAUTIFUL HOTEL!!!!! It was originally opened in January 1967 for Expo 67, and this place celebrated it's 50th Anniversary this year!!! Originally owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific Railway, this place is absolutely gorgeous, and like all C.P.R. Hotels, it was built near a train station to accomodate weathy guests using the trains, but while these hotels were originally places only wealthy people could stay, they are all now big tourist destinations.... Canadian Pacific Railway was mainly known for building and designing hotels that looked like French, Scottish or British Castles and Medieval Castles and Renaissance Chateau's, but being this was one of the last Canadian Pacific Hotels ever built, this one looks completely different. On the outside, this place looks like a Giant Cheese Grater and is known by some as the Cheese Grater Tower or Cheese Grater Hotel because of it's interesting design. While it's design is Very 1960s (place was built in 1967), when you go inside the hotel, you feel like you walked into a building built in the 1920s!!!!! Even though this place is MUCH Newer than all of the other Canadian Pacific Hotels, in still retains LOTS of Historic and Old World Charm, but also in some ways screams the 1960s at the same time!!!!! This place was absolutely GORGEOUS with it's mostly original lobby with Copper Ceilings and wooden doors and walls, and grand staircase!!!! Even though this place was bought by Marriott in 1997 and you would expect that Marriott would try to make this look like a Modern Business Hotel, unlike Fairmont who has been ruining all of their historic C.P.R. Properties and making them look all modern and ugly, Marriott Suprisingly has done a FANTASTIC job preserving this places old world charm, while also modernizing the rooms!!!!! Yes, our room, along with 80% of the rooms were completely gutted out and renovated in 2011, but other than that, and the elevator modernization, this place retains just about every bit of it's character!!!!! Their suites at this hotel still have their original decor and furnishings and fixtures though!!!! The Hallways, Lobby and it's furniture, Parking Elevators, staircases, ovens in the restaurant (not shown on video), and all fixtures in the basement except the carpet are original from 1967 when this place was built!!!!!! The staff here was SUPER FRIENDLY (or as Technicalboy300 would say, FRIRNDly) and I spent most of my stay in Montreal staying at this place, and I loved this place!!!! I would definitely stay here again!!!! The place was Gorgeous, Clean, the beds were comfy, and overall just a beautiful place, with lots of charm, that is in MINT CONDITION, and unlike many place that claim they have done "historic renovations" but preserve little to no charm, this place has done a FANTASTIC Job keeping history alive!!!!! Fantastic Job done by Marriott!!!!! And places like this are why I love Marriott and am thankful my mom is a Marriott Rewards' Platinum Member!!!! With that being said, if you ever visit Montreal, I definitely would recommend staying here!!!!! And if your not sure where to stay, at least put this place on the top of your list!!!! With that said, enjoy the tour and review!!!!
