Hsia Kuang-Li 夏光莉 - martial arts actor Born in Taiwan in 1958, Hsia Kuang-Li 夏光莉 studied Beijing Opera 京劇 at the Lu Guang Drama School 陸光劇校 since she was 9 years old. She later graduated from the Chinese Culture University 中國文化大學 and entered the film industry in 1977. In 1978, Hsia Kuang-Li was spotted by director Lee Tso-Nam 李作楠, who gave her the leading role for the movie Shaolin Invincible Sticks 棍王. Her tall slender figure was an asset to her kicking which became her trademark in the martial art films she appeared in. By the late 80s, Hsia Kuang-Li had already appeared in around 15 movies and had great potential, however, a bad accident while filming an action scene jumping out of a second floor, almost ended her career for good.
