Hello Everyone! Have you ever challenged your edge? have you ever tried to see if you can go beyond your usual threshold? If not, this is a great class to use as a check in. In this practice, we only do 2 postures, however we hold them for a longer period of time (5-6 min ish). Yin yoga, isn't about the amount of postures you do but rather the amount of time you spend in each pose. If you are comfortable holding a pose for 3 minutes, why not try this class and test yourself. This isn't a competition, its more of a self check in, something you can work towards. This is an intense hips practice BUT we also have 2 savasana's in this practice! woot woot! lol that's a win win. My hope is that by the end of this practice your hips are open, agile and loose. Most importantly that you discover your true threshold. P.s. if pigeon isn't accessible for you at the moment take deer pose. If fire log isn't accessible to you take reclined pigeon, aka figure four. YOU WILL NEED: 1 BLOCK & 1 PILLOW (if you chose to use props) Grab your coffee, tea or coco water and meet me on the mat! Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing. When practicing always remember 1. Meet the pose at YOUR edge (gradually) 2. Find stillness and focus on your breath 3. Resolve to be still Disclaimer Please consult your physician before starting any exercise program.
