4 Options for Dealing with a Problem - DBT

In any situation, there are always four options for dealing with a problem: 1. You can Solve the problem 2. You can Feel better about the problem 3. You can tolerate (or accept) the Problem 4. Stay Miserable. Our video gives examples of when problems may arise, and how choosing any or all of the options for dealing with the problem can have an impact on the outcome of the situation. When evaluating options for problems you can pick 1, 2, 3, or any combination of them. However, if you find yourself saying, "Yes, but…" when addressing any of those options to a problem, know that saying, "Yes, but…" is the same as choosing to stay miserable.
