'I can see clearly now the rain has gone' by the Makasong choir Music credit Jimmy Cliff #RIPJohnny Nash We were looking forward to meeting up to film this, after not seeing each other for 6 long months. The new 'rule of 6' was brought in on the day we were due to meet so we had to film in bubbles on the beach. We attracted some attention! We even had a 'Makadog' - see if you can spot him in the video! We were going to release the video on Friday but with the very sad news that Johnny Nash passed away yesterday, we brought it forward to today to honour his memory and hope that new listeners will love it as much as we do. (We are using Jimmy Cliff's version in the video.) We are a Community Signing Choir and use the Makaton Language Programme to sign key words to songs. The lyrics have to be carefully interpreted, by the Makaton tutors in our choir, so some of the signs may not match the words exactly but represent the meaning of the lyrics. We have been going over a year but, since lockdown, have only been able to meet via Zoom on a weekly basis. This is our fourth 'lockdown' video. The weekly sessions have been very important to us. We don't mean to infringe any copyright by releasing it - we hope that it will entertain and provide everyone access to the song. :-) Credit also needs to go to Elizabeth, who at 15 years of age is a technical genius and puts together all the videos for us.
