Homepage of BasscoverPete https://www.basscoverpete.com/ It’s not clear whether Anthony Jackson or Ron Baker plays bass on this song. But I personally think that Anthony Jackson is the bassplayer. I’ve also made a video of Jackson basspart in Feel Like Makin’ Love from Roberta Flack    • Roberta Flack Feel like makin' love. ...   and there are things which I recognize in the way the basspart is being played. Listen for instance at bar 41. Usually the triplets are being played towards the first or third count (afterbeat). There are a lot of examples of this in this song (for instance bar 10 and 13). But in bar 41 (and 59) Jackson plays he triplet towards the fourth beat in the bar. I recognize this in the basspart of Feel Like Makin Love where Jackson plays the triplet sometimes on the first beat (and not towards the first or third beat). One of the ‘secrets’ of this basspart is playing the second Eb (E flat) in the second bar of the maingroove in the intro and outro short. Listen for instance at bar 2. And ofcourse it’s beautiful (and simple at the same time) that Jackson plays a high Ab (A flat) on the first bar of the maingroove (bar 1) and a low Ab (A flat) on the second bar of the maingroove (bar 2). An other beautiful detail is in bar 16 where he plays a high D in the triplet. This note is the major 7th of the Ebmaj7 chord. I think a lot bassplayer would have played the octave there (Eb), but he have chosen to play the maj7th there. The whole song is played with a triplet feel. I play this song on a Fender Jazz Bass with roundwound strings. Standard tuning E A D G. No effects used except a bit compression. Bass: Anthony Jackson (or Ron Baker) Album: 360 Degrees of Billy Paul (1972) Composers: Kenny Gamble; Leon Huff; Cary Gilbert #basscover #basscoverwithtabs This video is for educational purpose.
