VOY Intro with Pathfinder-class Voyager-B in Star Trek Online, ft. Elite Force Main Theme

Another Demorecord Machinima project that took several months to put together. Partly due to the complexity of the first and final scenes of this intro remake attempt, but mostly due to procrastination. Compared with my Strange New Worlds intro remake with the Enterprise-F, there are a lot less scenes in total, but each scene had far more demanding camera work. In the end, I might have bit off more than I could chew here. Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force Main Title Theme by Dominik Hauser:    • STAR TREK VOYAGER: ELITE FORCE - Main...   Star Trek: Voyager Season 4 Intro Upscaled Reference Video:    • STAR TREK VOYAGER - Season 4 Opening ...   Behind-the-scenes commentary: • There are by now several dozens of remakes/reinterpretations of the Voyager Intro sequence out there. One of my major motivations for having my own go at it was to feature the main title theme from the Y2000 game Elite Force, which I personally prefer over the original Voyager theme in some ways. The other reason was to feature the Pathfinder-class Voyager-B (as canonized in Picard Season 3), because I think it’s straight up such a cool ship design. • Having said that, I must embarrassingly admit that I don't actually own the Pathfinder-class, nor the Legendary Intrepid, in the game. All footage was shot with the Terran Trailblazer-class sporting Pathfinder parts, then forced to wear its non-Mirror universe skin via Demorecord file editing. • It is also via Demorecord file editing that the ship is using the Odyssey hull material for all the shots here, which is not possible within the game itself as of the release of this vid. The dark spots on the default Type 7A hull material can be slightly distracting at times, I find. • Credits: Yes, of course the original Voyager crew are not serving on the Voyager-B. I just thought it’d be fun to list out what has become of the VOY crew in STO’s timeline. Garrett Wang’s [REDACTED] role is for story spoiler reasons with the “Scorpion’s Abyss” mission episode released on 23rd Jan 2024. Thought it best to err on the side of safety due how recent it is as of the release of this video. • Scene 1: Filmed in the story mission “Night Of The Comet”. The Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) effects were separately sourced from the story mission “A Step Between Stars”. I wanted the CME FX to move slower than what was shown, but the slower movement resulted in looking like it was trailing back into the star rather than out from it. • Scene 2: Filmed in the story mission “The Plausibility of the Possible”, as it is one of the very few maps in the game I know of where the system’s main star is located at the bottom of the map. Perfect for lighting up the ship’s bottom hull. • Scene 3: Filmed in the story mission “Uneasy Allies”, because it had moving clouds and a pretty backdrop. You will notice the ship slightly jiggling around in this scene, this was not intended on my part, Demorecord playbacks of moving ships at this close a camera distance tend to end up like that for reasons unclear to me. Since I could not fix the jiggling, I leaned into the fact that it was moving through a turbulent storm with the thunder and rumbling sound FX. • Scene 4: Filmed in the story mission “Beneath The Skin”, specifically right over the Mycelial Rift near Andoria Prime. • Scene 5: Filmed in the Defera Prime system. I initially wanted the ship to be much closer to the planetary ring, but it was too pixelated at that close a distance. So, I ended up recording from a much higher position, but as a result the ship had to appear at a later point in time compared to the original scene, due to the extra distance the camera needed to cover without any sudden/jarring accelerations. • Scene 6: Filmed in the story mission “All That Glitters”. My initial plan was to have the ship move and bank as per the original scene, but the in-game motion came out all stilted and janky. In the end, opted to have the ship remain static and let the camerawork sell the movement. • DiscoPicard Reshade preset by @captainwallisfx5143 a.k.a. u/thewallis84: https://www.nexusmods.com/startrekonl... • Engine trails FX removal mod by Brex2: https://www.nexusmods.com/startrekonl... • Additional Sound FX sourced from TrekCore and Descent: Freespace 2. • Video editing software used: DaVinci Resolve (of which I have greatly abused its Light Rays FX for nearly half the scenes in this vid).
