Poovar has so much to offer. In my honest opinion, Poovar is a hidden gem of Kerala. So many other Kerala tourist places are famous fo various things, but I feel that Poovar is yet to receive its dues. Poovar island has a number of resorts, restaurants and all of these are nothing short of scenic beauty. When in Poovar I recommend staying at a resort which has access to the beach and the backwaters. I stayed at Estuary Sarovar Portico where I indulges in some typical Kerala food as well. And Poovar is not too far from main Thiruvananthapuram. You can get there easily by road and takes j just about an hour or so. And in Trivandrum I also visited the richest temple in the world - Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
