Chakwal is a city where people love classical and carnatic music especially Sham chorasi gharana classical vocals like Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan and his sons Faizan Ali and Nadir Ali. Ustad Shafqat Ali khan belongs to Sham Chorasi Gharana and is best known for classical raag singing- thumari, Qafi and Khayaal. Shafqat Ali Khan like his Father late Ustad Salamat Ali khan is awarded by Pakistani government the highly ranked official awards like President's award.
