A Place to Rest - Fire Emblem: Three Houses (solo piano arrangement)

I'm kind of on my FE tear lol but I swear it'll be over soon and I'll get back to Tactics and Castlevania and other things, just bear with me I'm really sorry!! I want to compile all of these Three Houses arrangements into an album which is why i'm going kind of hardcore on this for the time being. Anyways, this is a theme you don't hear much of in the game, as it only plays during the S support conversation scene with the character you decide to marry, so basically you only hear it once. Which is a shame because it is really nice, and there's a lot of interesting harmonic potential. At the time I was writing it out I had Sylvain plastered on my desktop because I LOVE HIM and as I was seeking inspiration on where to take this, I thought it would be a neat exercise to ask myself what would be the musical embodiment of this character, and see where it went. I had a loose assortment of ideas in front of me and for once didn't have a detailed plan of attack, I just did whatever I felt like doing in the moment. The result, as you can see here, was a lot of self-indulgent excess bordering on bad taste, random virtuosic flourishes, grand romantic expressions, and sexier reharmonizations AHAHAHAHAHA. I almost ditched it when i listened back to it but then decided it was in keeping with his personality so i was like ok i'll let it stand haha. Besides there aren't that many times like this where I allow myself to be this unmoored, usually I like to have things musically mapped out in my head lol. It was actually really fun. I dunno if it's any fun to listen to lmao but it was fun to play. Being overall idiomatically jazz, I had to pull the ending from a famous standard from one of my favorite albums--i wonder if anyone will recognize it hahaha. i hope so.
