Patricia Blood: 2022 NJASA Region I Superintendent of the Year

You never know where life is going to take you. For one outstanding educational leader, that couldn’t be more true. Hi, I’m Richard Bozza. Executive Director of NJASA, and I’m proud to introduce Patricia Blood, our 2022 Regional Superintendent of the Year. Before she was Superintendent in Kearny, Patte was a teacher. Then came the September 11th attacks, and life took Patte in a new direction. She began her journey in educational leadership, ultimately becoming Chief Education Officer. Under her leadership in Kearny, the district has improved literacy achievement… …expanded advanced placement and early college course offerings… …and created a one-to-one technology initiative that had Kearny well-prepared for the pandemic. Patte led redistricting, and opened the district’s first middle school… She oversaw the $54 million construction project at Kearny High School. She created a Visual and Performing Arts Academy with programs in dance, broadcasting, and the arts. In a career spanning nearly 20 years in Kearny, Patte has always put students first. Patte serves as the Hudson County Representative to the NJASA Executive Committee. We couldn’t be prouder to have her on our team.
