If you don’t see the “AUTO” icon, that means the system is off. Now, it’s important to understand that there is a difference between the Auto function of the climate control system, and the Auto Defogging System. With auto climate control, the system automatically maintains cabin temperature; but with the Auto Defogging System, the system automatically senses moisture on the inside of the windshield, and then triggers an automatic defogging sequence that consists of four stages -- depending on the amount of moisture detected. So, they are related, but separate systems.
