How Bimla Devi rose from trials & tribulations to become an MP?The untold story of Bimal Kaur Khalsa

Ritesh Lakhi in this video is tracing back the rise and fall of Bimal Kaur Khalsa, ex Member of Parliament from Ropar, Punjab. Bimal Kaur Khalsa, widow of Beant Singh came back to Punjab after 1984 and settled here with her three kids. Eventually as she started getting massive response from the Sikh masses and got to be invited onto the panthic stages, Bimal Kaur Khalsa went on to actively involve herself into politics. Eventually she got elected to the Lok Sabha as an MP in the 1989 general elections of India and represented her constituency Ropar for little over a year and half before the mid term polls in 1991. Bimal Kaur Khalsa was actively participating in the hardliner outfits and was intermittently involved in clash with top police officials due to her frequent visits and regular involvement with the affairs of youths who were in a struggle mode with police. With massive appeal and zeal to work Bimal Kaur Khalsa often found herself at logger heads with the then Ropar and Chandigarh SSPs. However, the links with hardliners were more of a trouble as she finally breathed her last under suspicious circumstances at her Mohali based home where she was found electrocuted, a reason which her family still finds hard to believe as a real reason for her death.
