DDGQ PSX Total IGT in

Yo! This is a compilation of my best RTA time trials using the latest strats. The 25-minute barrier has been broken for Total IGT. It was surely my most enjoyable grind in this game. Time Trials: 1-1 - 00:21 - Forest Edge 1-2 - 01:52 - The Gorge 1-3 - 03:35 - Huey's Track 1-4 - 05:32 - Dangerous Cliff 2-1 - 07:01 - First Avenue 2-2 - 08:32 - The Roofs 2-3 - 09:56 - Dewey's Rooftops 2-4 - 11:35 - Urban High-Rises 3-1 - 13:15 - Haunted Hall 3-2 - 15:01 - Earie Alley 3-3 - 16:56 - Louie's Creepy Corridor 3-4 - 18:40 - Ghostly Path 4-1 - 20:38 - Temple's Entrance 4-2 - 22:17 - Artifact Way 4-3 - 24:06 - The Nephews' Murky Way 4-4 - 26:14 - Ancient Fate I was wondering if a sub 1:30 run is possible RTA for the 112% category. The only room left for improvements is having the best possible execution and performing as many risky strats as required. So I decided to optimize each time trials to their full potential in order to quantify the possible time save over my 1:30:56 PB. In theory, it is possible to save 27 to 34 seconds on my PB from time trials alone. By replicating the time saves on the toy segments, I believe sub 1:30 in possible...just in theory for now. A human theory segmented run is sub 1:30 for sure. But there are some problems. In order to achieve sub 1:30, I must do no mistake at all while performing nearly frame perfect tricks, each occurring twice in a 112% run. To make things funnier (or not), there are also bad RNG involved. - The most inconsistent trick remains the box jump at 05:40. No setups can help it yet. - The Hoverpunches are not consistent and deadly. Some feel more consistent than others though. The 3 third-person hoverpunches at 08:18, 08:58 and 21:16 don't save much time, a few frames at most. However, sideways Hoverpunches like at 05:04, 17:12 and 17:21 save more than a second, and thus are pretty much mandatory. - In third-person levels, Donald's running axis changes randomly without pressing Left or Right. Examples at 00:50 and 01:42. A bad axis makes me lose several frames. I feel like the axis can be manipulated but it's not consistent so far. An example of an important axis is at 22:29, this axis made all the difference for saving an extra second IGT in this level. - The cycle of some enemies in World 3 is random. For example, this enemy at 19:28 has 2 cycles. The most common cycle is slow, Donald has to wait a fraction on a second before killing it. The other cycle which I got here is fast, no need to wait. - The damage boosts are random in the sense that Donald can be pushed lightly or heavily forward. For example, the damage boost at 11:43 is the most powerful I can possibly get and thus it's faster than no damage boosting. However, the one at 23:28 is very light but it's still faster than no damage boosting since Donald has to jump anyway. The latest strats are: - Better overall running axis. - A faster platforming at 03:08. - A faster way to climb the webs at 19:47. - A fairly consistent landing on the top of the duck-headed platform at 23:14. - 3 useful third-person hoverpunches at 08:18, 08:58 and 21:16. There are plenty of slowpy movements left to erase in this recording, but I believe that it won't be good enough to save an extra second IGT for RTA attempts. Before full time trial attempts, I used many savestates to build almost perfect segmented runs. Then I grinded till I saved the late second IGT in each level. For me, it is not realistically possible to save more seconds IGT, except for TAS of course. It is surely possible to save another second IGT in: - Huey's Track: Done! The new IGT is 1:45. - Dangerous Cliff - Dewey's Rooftops - Urban High-Rises, I should have gotten an IGT of 1:30 since I had 1:00 left on the clock. But it's still a 1:31 somehow. I'm probably 2 frames late, but I couldn't do better despite an intense grind. - Haunted Hall - Louie's Creepy Corridor - Temple's Entrance What matters to me is that a TAS would not be able to reach sub 24:00 total IGT with the current strats. When I reached 25:00 total IGT, I really struggled finding one more second to save. I finally reached 24:59 grinding The Nephew's Murky Way for a couple of days. I felt like I could save another second in Artifact Way, so I grinded it for even longer. The rough grind paid off! I'm satisfied with the result of 24:58 total IGT. If I find the motivation to grinding the 112% category again, I'll consider sub 1:30 to be the ultimate goal. Since January 2024, I saved: - 1 second IGT in Huey's Track, the new IGT is 1:45. Thanks for watching.
