Backpacking Across Europe 2023 - Part 1 - New York City

I know what you are going to say, "New York isn't in Europe"! Yes, this is very true, however my flight from Charlotte to JFK Airport was at 7:00 AM and landed in NYC at 9:00 AM. SO I could sit around the airport for 11 hours and wait for my 9:00 PM flight to London, or I could go explore the city! It's me, so of course I am going to explore!!! I took the Airtrain to the Jamaica station, then took the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) to Penn Station. I found a great bag storage facility next to the train station on the BouceUSA app and dropped off my bag there. From there, I walked north through Times Square, then east to Rockerfeller Center, where the LEGO store is located. I am a HUGE fan of LEGO, and just found out about the Minifigure Factory machine, where you can customize and create your personal mini figure. There are only about 10 store in the US that have this, and this was one of them. Fortunately, several of the cities I would go to on this trip in Europe also had these machines, so needless to say I spent some money on LEGO figures!!! When I left the LEGO store, I walked west to visit The Edge observation deck. I have been to the observation decks at Empire State Building, The South Tower of the original World Trade Center (in July 2001 nonetheless), the Top of the Rock, and also the new One World Trade Center. This one is newer, and I love how most of it is outside! It is on the far west side of Manhattan, so you can see all of the other buildings very clearly without other buildings blocking them. It was a bit pricy, but the views were worth it. When I left there, I collected my bag from the BOUNCE storage facility, and took the LIRR back to Jamaica, then the Airtrain back to JFK. I checked in with Norse Atlantic Airlines and before I knew it, I was on my way to London to start my 24 night European adventure!
