-History: Lore, Lore is a German folk song. It was made back in 1874 just 3 years after German unification. The song is about a forester and his daughter called "Lore" in the German black forest. The black forest is a large forest in the state of Baden-Württemberd in south-east Germany. It's a very historical and cultural area and was first mentioned all the way back in ancient times by the Celts who named it "Abnoba mons", after the Celtic deity, "Abnoba". The area was mostly used as forestry and mining grounds. Nowadays tourism takes the top spot of the forest. Originally, the Black Forest was a mixed forest of deciduous trees and firs. At the higher elevations spruce also grew. In the middle of the 19th century, the Black Forest was almost completely deforested by intensive forestry and was subsequently replanted, mostly with spruce monocultures. -The map: Even though this version was recorded in 1933, I decided to use the German empire map since the song was first written close after German unification. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -The record: Lore, Lore / Kristall records Unknown / Best.
