Improved DIY Lathe Quick Change Toolpost

This video details the machining of my dovetailed wedge-type Quick Change Toolpost 0:00 Build Overview 01:05 Toolpost Body 06:03 Pivot Bushing 06:17 T-Nut & Clamping Bolt 06:55 Brass Cone 07:32 First Test Fit 08:21 First Cuts - Handle & Nut 09:37 Chip Shield 10:12 Final Assembly My lathe came with a four-way toolpost as standard issue, it was okay to use, but some of the clamping bolts were stripped and I had to constantly stack up feeler gauges as shims - this was okay for the carbide tooling, but every time I sharpened my HSS tools, I'd need different shims. What I did like about the four-way post was that it had an indexing pin so I could rotate it easily to get the tool oriented how I wanted. At one stage I actually gave in, bought a wedge-type toolpost, and then the global shipping chain went to heck and I got the tool-holders but not the toolpost. So I decided to make my own based roughly off of the Aloris dimensions to fit the holders I had. I'm very happy with this toolpost, the fit of the parts seem to be just right and so it takes only a little pressure to lock down rigidly. It works with the commercially bought holders. If you guys want plans, I'm thinking of making an affordable build pack with drawings and build notes and possibly even a more in-depth video if that's necessary.
