Camping in South Africa | Mountain Splendour | Drakensberg Mountains

The Easter weekend saw us camping in the Drakensberg mountains, at a camp site called Mountain Splendour. Nestled amongst the oak trees on a working farm in the foothills of Cathkin Peak, Mountain Splendour is a beautiful camp site with plenty of activities for the whole family. There are plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails in the area, along with restaurants, pubs, farm stalls, and arts and crafts places. The camp site is electrified, and has a pool, and playground for the kids. The ablutions are recently renovated, clean, and well maintained. Cathkin Peak is in the central Drakensberg region, and is situated about four and a half hours from Johannesburg, and 3 hours from Durban. My vehicle is a Ford Ranger Wildtrak (Thunder Edition) 2.0l bi-turbo diesel, with a Front Runner Slimline II rack fitted over the load bed.
