Prelude on "Anima Christi" - Robert Cockroft [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

This was Robert Cockroft's first published piece of organ music, and is dedicated to Gordon Stewart, International Concert Organist, and sometime organist of Manchester Cathedral, Blackburn Cathedral, and of Kirklees Borough Council, presiding over the mighty instrument in Huddersfield Town Hall for very many years. This prelude is based upon the tune "Anima Christi", sung to the beautiful hymn "Soul of my Saviour" and is published by Banks Music. It is available, here: https://www.banksmusicpublications.co... To the performer, the treatement of the melody was similar to some of J S Bach's chorales, hence choosing to record this on the Silbermann sample from Dresden. The pitch has been corrected to be as close to A440 as the software will allow (actually A440.1!). This recording was made on a Johannus AGO Live III on the sample of the SIlbermann organ in the Katholische Hofkirche Dresden. Samples have four positions, Console, Front, Centre, or Rear of church. This was recorded using the Rear sample, highlighting the more than generous acoustic in the Hofkirche. Steven Maxson is well known as an organist, conductor, composer, and arranger.
