TWA, Super "G" Constellation flight to Kansas City

Please note! Click on CC for informative captions of this flight aboard a Lockheed Super Constellation. This is a VHS video of the flight I took aboard the Save-A-Connie Group's (now Airline History Museum) Lockheed L1049H Super Constellation "Star of America" painted in the classic Trans World Airlines Super "G" colors circa 1955. The trip took place on a hot, humid August 25, 1991, departing from Glenview Naval Air Station outside of Chicago flying southwest across the central Midwest to Kansas City's Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC) where the aircraft was and still is stationed. The video begins with the arrival of the Connie, N6937C, at Glenview the day before an airshow at the U.S. Navy's airbase (this airshow was in conjunction with the annual Chicago Air & Water Show held on Chicago's lakefront). Next are ground shots of the aircraft less than a hour before departing for K.C. Then it's a smoky firing up of the four Wright R-3350 engines, taxing, running up of the engines and takeoff. Soon after lifting off, the Super Connie was directed east over Lake Michigan before turning to head in the opposite direction towards Kansas City. Upon arrival at K.C., N6937C got to show itself off a bit by buzzing the runway at MKC before circling around 360 degrees and then landing. Yes, that indeed is I on board the enroute Connie making a brief, rare cameo appearance in one of my videos from so many years ago (and no, it's not the shot of the individual snoozing). Thanks for watchin'! Video recorded using a then new Montgomery Ward, Signature 2000 HQ 8x zoom, VHS video camera. Thanks to Paul Pristo for donating his "Connie" to Save-A-Connie!
