Practice the "open voicings" using the II V I progression! Open voicings (or "spread voicings") are the most complete voicings we use in jazz. They consist of root - guide tones (3 & 7) - tensions - (melody). Since we use both hands to play these open voicings, we have plenty of space to add extensions or to use alterations and reharmonizations. Notice we only play 2 notes in the LH (1 & 3 or 1 & 7)!
