John Farnham: Whispering Jack in Concert - The DVD Cuts (1987)

When John Farnham's smash hit album "Whispering Jack" was reissued and remastered as a 20th Anniversary CD and DVD set in 2006, the included DVD release of "Whispering Jack in Concert" from 1987 was shortened by roughly half an hour. Fans who are lucky enough to still own the original VHS from the era now understand how important it is that they hold onto this. As this DVD is now much more widely available than the VHS (not to mention the lack of VCRs in all our households), I decided to dust off my old VHS copy and create a special edit of the 6 songs (and John's wonderful stage banter) that will likely never see the light of day in digital form. If anyone knows why the full concert was never released in full, then feel free to let me (and the fans) know in the comments below. Included: 0:00 Intro 1:17 Paper Paradise (from LRB's 1986 "No Reins" album) 5:23 Infatuation (from John's 1980 "Uncovered" album) 14:44 Comic Conversation (1970 single) 20:17 All in Love Is Fair (Stevie Wonder cover) 23:35 Trouble (from John's 1986 "Whispering Jack" album) 28:26 Down on the Border (from LRB's 1983 "The Net" album) A few personal observations: * It is so weird that "Trouble" was left off the DVD release. It's from the actual "Whispering Jack" album! So bizarre! * There is numerous references to "Sadie" from both John and the crowd here. My favourite moments include the woman with the high pitched voice saying "Sadie?" when John says the upcoming song isn't from Whispering Jack and is "different" (0:52)... as well as David Hirschfelder playing the first few notes on the keyboard (12:45).
