Root Canal Success Rate ఎంత శాతం వుంటుంది ? | Re RCT అంటే ఏమిటి ? | FMS Dental

In this Video Dr Ravi Chandra (Senior Endodontist) FMS DENTAL HOSPITAL talks about the Success of Root canal Treatment in Telugu language What is the percentage of success of root canal treatments ? Ans : Success rate of Root canal treatment is up to 98 to 99 % . But sometimes severe infection in the bone or badly decayed teeth can affect the success. For these cases laser treatments and periapical surgeries are done along with the root canal treatment. Some times cracks in teeth may require root canal treatment but these cracks may progress on to the root during chewing and this can lead to failure. So this 1% failure can also be attributed to this. What are the factors contributing to the success of root canal treatment? Ans : Success depends on three factors: 1. Which dental specialist is going to do the treatment. Endodontist is specialized and trained in doing Root canal treatments. Hence an Endodontist is the right person to be approached. 2. What dental technology is used by the dentist ? Use of technology starts from diagnosis of the problem by clinical examination and radiographic examination using CBCT and Intra oral radiographs. In cases of severe infection dentist will decide to use Laser to disinfect the root canal. There are 3 types of laser in FMS Dental Hospital (Diode laser, Nd yag laser and Er yag laser). 3. Also the dentist should use the right high quality filling material to fill the tooth. Also the dentist or the patient should not be in a hurry to complete the root canal treatment in a single visit. Let the dentist decide on the number of visits based on the complexity of the treatment. What is Re-RCT ? To what extent can it provide success? ANS : Re-RCT or Repeat Root canal treatment means repeating the root canal treatment due to failure of the previous treatment. Re-Rct may may require more than one appointment. FMS Dental Hospital is well equipped with Endodontic Microscope, Dental Laser and CBCT to treat Re-RCT cases successfully. What is a single visit root canal treatment and multi visit root canal treatment ? which of these can determine success? ANS : Single visit Root canal treatments can also provide success in certain cases. But in majority of the cases, multiple visit root canal will provide success. Also laser and microscope usage will facilitate the success. Some times intracanal medicaments will also have to be used for few days to clear the infection in the root canals before a root canal filling is done. What is a Post Endodontic filling? How does it influence success? Ans: Post endodontic filling is done on the crown of the tooth after completion of Root canal filling. This post endodontic filling will prevent coronal leakage, there by the root canal treatment continues to be successful. But when there is more damage to the tooth crown area, then before doing Post endodontic filling , a post and core treatment will be necessary using a metal post or fibre post in to the root canal. This gives additional support to the post endodontic filling. These posts forms a connection between Crown and Root of the tooth. And if a good quality crown(cap) is placed over this tooth crown, then this entire treatment will be successful in saving the tooth.
