Land of Hope and Glory - Victor Male Chorus (1925) | British Patriotic Song

"Land of Hope and Glory" (also known as "Pomp and Circumstance") is a patriotic English song that was composed for the coronation of King Edward VII. It was first performed by Clara Butt in 1902. Its music was taken from "March No. 1" of the work Pomp and Circumstance by the English composer Edward Elgar and the lyrics are by A. C. Benson. Nowadays it is usually played during The Last Night of the Proms concerts. At the Commonwealth Games it was performed to represent England and at the 2002 Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, on the last weekend of celebrations, people surrounded the palace to sing the song ending with the traditional singing of "God Save the Queen". On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned, once more thy crown is set. Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained, have ruled thee well and long; by Freedom gained, by Truth maintained, thine Empire shall be strong. Chorus: Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free, how shall we extol thee, who are born of thee? Wider still and wider, shall thy bounds be set; God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet, God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
