Godzilla Battle Line: Kong and Godzilla 2021 Meme Matches on Skull Island

The Monsterverse collaboration returns for season 20 of GBL! Adding Mechagodzilla 2021 to the game while also buffing Kong and G21. This is fantastic because many people have been wanting MG21 for a while, and newer players will have a chance to get the MV units that they couldn't get previously. In this vid I take a look at only Kong and G21. I was originally dreading the day I had to use these guys for a vid. I've seen TS Dragun basically lose his damn mind trying to use G21, and people have been saying Kong is just a shittier version of G89. Personally I've never really used either of them before. This is the first time I've used these units seriously in battle and I was fully expecting to get my ass beat. But honestly they didn't do too bad at all.      I'm using Biollante leader on Skull Island. Bio leader also received an attack buff this season, but her stats are still lackluster. There's two strips of water up the sides of Skull Island that are great for units to speed through and surprise the opponent. I also bring along Gigan 72 because he moves RIDICULOUSLY fast in water with the buff and does wonders distracting the enemy leader. In the first few battles I tried to run Kong and G21 together, but it's probably not a good idea to use them both in one team. They're both somewhat expensive at 6 and need proper support from other units to do well. You won't have enough energy to support both. So later on in the vid I swap out one for the Energy Base and had much more success that way.       Between the two, Kong is the worse one in my opinion, he's just a big tank who smashes enemies with a punch that has aoe. He received a movement speed buff and definitely feels faster, but I'm not sure how much this will benefit him. Generally you want a tank to be slow so you can build up energy and make a strong push with them like Burning Godzilla. But Kong moves just a little too fast for my liking, sorta like Godzilla 2004. It's hard to stall with him and it doesn't help that he ignores water and structures. Kong would've benefited more from a cost reduction, attack speed increase, or range increase, because his aoe isn't that large. Jet Jaguar SP's stubby little legs reach farther than Kong's giant ape arms for fuck's sake. Against Spacegodzilla, Kong still has to hit each crystal individually because his aoe is just that small. And the nail in the coffin is that he can't hit air units. He's just really unreliable and doesn't do his job well. There are better options out there, like G89, Angy, and Biollante. But I did have some success with Kong though, he's pretty quick with the Bio boost and can be a headache for the enemy leader if he reaches them, especially when paired with Gigan. I just have one question, why the fuck dosen't Kong use his axe in battle? That was the coolest thing from the movie and yet they just made him a brawler. It's such a missed opportunity. Why do JJSP and Eva get their weapons but not Kong? Sadly he only uses it in his leader ability…and maybe at some point during this vid.      I had much better results with Godzilla 2021, and more fun too. G21 fires his atomic breath at enemies, but the damage increases the longer he stays hitting them. So if you can get him on the enemy leader he can absolutely decimate them in about 7 seconds. However he needs proper support to do so. G21 received a health and attack buff this season, but it wasn't a whole lot. Unfortunately they did not fix his targeting issue. It still takes about 3 years for G21 to lock on an enemy and then start attacking. This is infuriating at times, and it's not like an intended animation thing, he literally just stands there for no reason before attacking. This issue really bogs him down and is one of the main reasons he struggles. If this one issue was fixed he would see much more play. G21 has many counters as well. Swarms and stuns are the bane of his existence. He can actually almost lose a 1v1 vs a fucking Minilla. Spacegodzilla is another bad matchup if the crystals get in the way, and Dimension Tide can be used to pull G21 off of whatever he's hitting and reset his attack. However despite all of this, G21 did very well for me and even took out a few leaders. I honestly didn't expect to get a single leader kill with him. Overall G21 is a very high risk high reward unit, but If played correctly, the results can be truly legendary. Heheh.      Next time I'll be playing around with Mechagodzilla 2021, who I've heard mixed opinions for. Some say he's good, others say he's dogshit. Just gonna have to see for myself. But one thing's for sure, he looks absolutely sick. Stay tuned.
