Academy 1/72 Scale Messerschmitt BF-109G6 (Brush Painted)

Famed as the nemesis of the legendary World War Two fighters such as the Supermarine Spitfire and the North American P-51 Mustang. The Messerschmitt BF-109 status as a legendary fighter was well earned. For being the main fighter aircraft of the Luftwaffe. And the type flown by many top scoring Luftwaffe aces such as Erich Hartmann. The BF-109 would appear on multiple fronts during World War two. From the skies of Great Britian, to North Africa, and in the skies over the Russian Front. With multiple variants being produced. And with the type being exported and produced in other German Allied nations. One nation that operated multiple types and manufactured the BF-109, was the Kingdom of Hungary. As a German ally, the Royal Hungarian Air Force was provided with Messerschmitt Bf109s. In October 1942 the first BF-109’s began to enter the Service of the Royal Hungarian Air Force. With the first Hungarian BF-109 sorties occurring in the same month. By late 1943 the BF-109s had replaced the Italian Reggiane Re.2000, as the primary fighter of the RHAF. With Bf 109D and E models were used for training, with the F and G models were used for combat. The Messerschmitt Bf109Gs were also manufactured in Hungary, with some components imported from Germany, such as armament and radio parts. As part of the German-Hungarian aircraft construction program. By 1944 the war on the eastern front resulted had turned dire for Hungary. The nation would become a key battlefield for the Soviet advance towards Germany. At this stage of the war Hungarian BF-109G6s were involved in air combat against Soviet Air Forces. And from May 1944 to August 1944, in combat against USAAF bombers and fighters. By early 1945 most of Hungary was under soviet occupation. However, several units of BF-109s of the Hungarian Air Force had moved into Austria by March 1945. Which continued to fight until the end of the war, in May of 1945. THE MODEL KIT This kit from Academy is a nice scaled depiction of the BF-109G6. Which only comes with Luftwaffe decals. So, I made my own D.I.Y Hungarian decals. Depicting a 1944 low visibility Hungarian BF-109. I also was able to depict the Luftwaffe mottled camouflage. Via the use of a paint brush and cotton buds. Thank You for watching & Good luck with all your ongoing projects. Shuttle Factory Scale Models
