Hobby Boss 1/72 Scale F-86F40 Sabre- Build Video

The North American F-86 Sabre is often regarded as one of the greatest fighter aircraft in annuals of military history. Famed for its role during the Korean War [1950-1953] as the main USAF jet fighter. And the ideal counter to the dreaded and legendary Soviet MiG-15. Often dueling against the nimble Soviet jet fighter, in fierce aerial combat high in the skies over North Korea. Resulting in F-86 pilots shooting down in total of 792 MiGs, by the end The Korean War. In the aftermath of The Korean War, demand for the famed fighter from US/Western aligned nations. Resulted in the F-86 to be built under license in Canada by Canadair. For both the Royal Canadian Air Force and exported to the Royal Air Force. And in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation. With the CAC Sabre’s equipping squadrons, the Royal Australian Air Force. Notably RAAF Sabre squadrons were deployed to Ubon Air Base in Thailand. To protect Thai air space during Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Another notable operator was the F-86 Sabre was the West German Luftwaffe. Equipping Luftwaffe Fighter squadrons form 1957 until 1966 in the role of daytime interceptors. With the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter replacing the type. Post 1966 several Luftwaffe F-86 Sabre were used as target tug aircraft from 1967 until 1974. Notably a few famed World War Two aces like Erich Hartman, flew the type in West German service. With Hartman being appointed as the first Wing Commadore of Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen". Resulting in the Sabre’s of JG-71 adopting the distinct black tulip emblem of Hartman. Applied around the intake and leading edge of the tail, on the F-86 Sabres of Jagdgeschwader 71. THE MODEL This quick and easy Hobby Boss is as fun model to make. The kit I made comes with decals for one West German Luftwaffe paint scheme. Or the paint scheme for the colors of an Aerobatic JASDF F-86 Sabre. The chosen paint scheme I went for Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen". With Vallejo Model Colors and Citadel paints, being used to paint the model. Also starting around, the 11:09 mark there is a special bonus segment. A walkaround of a REAL F-86 Sabre. Filmed here in New Zealand at the Classic Flyers Aviation Museum. Located next to the airport in the town of Tauranga. Sadly, the footage is not the best since it was filmed on my old phone, back in 2021. But it is very rear to see a historic aircraft in the flesh. Yet alone be allowed to sit in the cockpit of one. So, it makes a nice ended to the video. Thanks for Watching Music Credits: All tracks are either source from the YouTube Audio library. Or from https://incompetech.com/music/ by Kevin MacLeod
