In those lessons, we use phonetic English spelling, so you don't have to be able to read and write Persian before learning to speak it conversationally! In this lesson, we learn a brand new letter- ل. This letter sounds like 'lé' and is equivalent to the English letter 'L'. It also looks slightly different when combined with an ا after it- لا. We learn how our new consonant interacts with the different vowels, and learn many new words including: لَب lab (lips) سَلام salām (hello) بال bāl (wing) and many more!
