Craft Distilling Business Workshop - How to start a Craft Distillery - Session 1

Over the last 14 years, Distillique has help set up more than 100 Craft Distilleries in 15 countries. Of these, the vast majority have been very successful, due to the investment, hard work, dedication and innovation of the Distillers running them. It is however important that anyone embarking on this journey knows what they are letting themselves in for, as there are many, many legislative, practical and administrative hurdles and challenges. Commercial Craft Distilling is not easy. Making a Commercial Craft Distillery work, is not easy. With our B1 - Craft Distilling Business Course, through more than 60 hours of lectures and dozens of downloads (legislation, guides, spreadsheets, planning tools, templates, etc.) we strive to make this process easier, and more approachable. In October 2021 we held a free, 4 hour long, Craft Distilling Business Workshop - attended by more than 50 future Craft Distillers (all that we could accommodate) to answer the most common questions. This workshop was recorded, and we are uploading it as a two part video. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1. In no way can this be considered a substitute for the full B1 - Craft Distilling Business Course, as it merely scratches the surface. 2. The workshop was presented in South Africa, with South African legislation and requirements as the basis. Some aspects will however be valid in other countries as well. 3. Figures, pricing, etc. was valid on the date of filming, and are obviously subject to change. 4. As stated in the presentation - we deal with National, Provincial and Municipal Legislation and Requirements. The actual wording and especially the local enforcement of these regulations differ from location to location. Information is presented in what is the generally accepted format - i.e. how things SHOULD be done, which is not always accurate in how things ARE done on local level. 5. Under no circumstances does or can Distillique guarantee any outcomes, profit margins, sales figures, targets, target market size, expected turnover, etc. Anyone should and would realise that such factors are outside our control, and depends on the decisions made by the Distiller and/or Business Owner. Your choices, your work, your investment, your innovation, your effort will determine the success of your business and your brand. We can merely offer guidance, advice and assistance.
