The Harris Jayaraj Signature Explained Part 1 | Suvai Snippets

HAJAX - a new word coined to describe the signature style of composer Harris Jayaraj (Tamil/ Indian film Industry). Note: All songs are transposed to C minor scale, to keep the explanation visible and easy for non-musicians. This video is not intended as a music "how to" lesson. The original key of each song is not important, because we are boiling it down to the essentials of the composer's style. Aeolian scale is heard in many (not all) urban romance melodies of Harris Jayaraj, and each of them so popular that they can be considered to be in a class of their own. I could have shown all the songs in A minor too. But a non-musician can wrongly interpret that as "he sticks to the white keys". When seen on C minor, even non-musicians can quickly see that there is a peculiar pattern going on, due to the black keys being used. Disclaimer: This is my subjective view of this composer and where his music comes alive, depending on the emotional impact his songs have made on me. The focus of this is to bring appreciation for this composer's music among non-musicians/ fans.
