Patih Series: Episode 1 "Destination within the Village"

Welcome to A Sanctuary to Relax One's Mind, Body, and Soul. Today’s journey allows our Ladies and Gentlemen to fully immerse themselves in a nature-inspired experience. ‘Patih’ is a term to call our butlers — derived from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘the king’s right-hand man’. The service is subtle, gracious and honest. They are the key person to make your journey most memorable and last a lifetime. Tirta Empul Our guests are drawn to Bali for different reasons. Some seek a retreat, while others desire to connect with a culture whose traditions live on. Therefore, Mandapa Reserve creates the signature destinations within the resort. You might be wondering why there are so many water fountains when you enter the resort. These 75 water fountains represent the Tirta Empul – the Holy Spring Water Temple. The original Tirta Empul is located near the town of Tampaksiring, Bali, and it’s a sacred temple by the Balinese Hindu community, dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu God of water. The temple compound consists of a “Petirtaan” or bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go for a purification ritual called “Melukat”. In the Balinese language, Tirta Empul means water gushing from the earth, which for this reason, Tirta Empul is regarded as a holy spring. Gunung Kawi Temple When you pass our Suites building, you may see the six temples in front of it. The original Gunung Kawi Temple was designed to provide a residence for the souls of ancient kings. As there are many legendary stories about this Gunung Kawi Temple site, there are historical stories circulating in the community. It is believed that the mythical giant Kebo Iwo carved out all the ancient tombs in one night with his fingernails. Rice Paddies Field These majestic three acres of rice paddies with a traditional barn on stilts, represent the Tegalalang Rice Paddies field. The villagers come and work in the rice paddies and bring daily offerings to the temple, giving the resort the feeling that it’s part of a close-knit community. Take a stroll, and you will find the Dragonflies in the rice field. Little is known that dragonflies are actually become friends of farmers because they are predators of agricultural pest insects. And the stories continue... Patih Series: Episode 2 Discover more about Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve: www.MandapaReserve.com
