Patih Series: Episode 4 "Inspired by Balinese Culture"

Welcome to A Sanctuary to Relax One's Mind, Body, and Soul. ‘Patih’ is a term to call our butlers — derived from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘the king’s right-hand man’. The service is subtle, gracious and honest. They are the key person to make your journey most memorable and last a lifetime. For this episode, allow me to take you on the journey to our resort that is inspired by Balinese Culture. Designed and constructed by the world-class architect Miles Humphreys, Mandapa is designed to embrace the surrounding tropical landscape. Welcome to our “Wantilan”. In Balinese culture, a "wantilan" refers to a traditional community gathering space or pavilion. It's a versatile structure used for various purposes such as meetings, ceremonies, performances, and communal activities. “Wantilan” plays a significant role in fostering community cohesion and preserving Balinese traditions. Reminiscence the culture, this open design area become the first meeting point with our Ladies and Gentlemen./ Next Journey is Kubu. Inspired by nature, Kubu is the signature restaurant at Mandapa and is surrounded by a tropical breeze and the soothing sound of water with a unique bamboo construction. “Kubu” in Balinese means “hut’ or Shelter, where Balinese farmers keep the rice after harvesting habitually. With a tropical breeze and the soothing sound of water, Kubu offers an intimate space with 9 private cocoons overlooking the Ayung river. Today’s last journey is our villa. Our villas have been beautifully designed to blend traditional Balinese esthetics with a contemporary touch, creating a harmonious environment that reflects the natural beauty of its surroundings. Jeffrey A. Wilkes and DESIGNWILKES have successfully integrated elements of Balinese interior design into the space, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the tropical landscape while experiencing modern comforts. The is our bed runner inspired by the Balinese Songket. This type of traditional handwoven is known for intricate patterns and a luxurious feel. Songket is typically made using metallic threads, often gold or silver, woven into a silk or cotton base to create stunning motifs and designs. The beautiful Balinese paintings adorning the walls inside the villa, depict scenes from Hindu mythology, Balinese rituals, everyday village life, and the lush landscapes of Bali. You will never find the same paintings and Songket in each of our rooms. We're thrilled to extend a warm invitation and experience all the wonderful things in our lush jungle. And the stories continue... Patih Series: Episode 5 Discover more about Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve: www.MandapaReserve.com
