Time for Tea with Alia, an Audiology STP

Hi all, hope you’re all having a good week 🌟 Yesterday I spoke with Alia, a first year Audiology trainee based in Reading! She went straight into a BSc in audiology so has quite a lot of experience in the specialism, but is now learning about paediatric as well as adult investigations. Before starting the STP she went into a research audiologist post to get some more experience, it’s always good to take some time to work out that the programme is what you want to do before starting on the 3 years! Audiology falls under the neurosensory group of specialisms so she’ll do rotations in neurophysiology and ophthalmology later on this year. It’s pretty much all patient facing (can’t do much without someone to perform the tests on), so having good communication skills is really important - especially as they’ve been referred for help with their hearing 🌚 Hopefully this helps to clear up any questions you might have about audiology!
