The results of an experiment in Audacity and Virtual Sailor NG to replicate the sound of Titanic's propellers underwater, with the assumption that the central propellor had 3 blades as per new evidence that came to light in 2008. The even beat of the 3 bladed variant is in stark contrast to the chaotic sound of the 4 bladed. The Olympic Class Ocean Liners had gargantuan propellers. The two outboard wing propellers on the Titanic were each 23 ft 6 inches in diameter, sporting 3 blades each made of manganese bronze bolted to a central hub, weighing 38 tons each. The centre propeller was 16ft 6 inches and made of a one piece manganese bronze cast. There is some debate to this day as to whether the central propeller had 3 blades or 4. The 4 blade variant was the one most commonly fitted throughout Olympic's lifetime but it is believed by some sources that Titanic's central propeller was an experimental 3 bladed variant due to new evidence from Harland and Wolff that emerged in 2008.
