I ran the Rae Lakes Loop CCW on August 7th of 2023. This had been a goal of mine for the year and it looked pretty gloomy when the entrance from the west had been closed due to the road being damaged from storms. We decided to hike in from the east into Kearsarge Lakes as it seemed the only viable option at this point. There was absolutely no intel at the time I ran ... according to the rangers and CCC... they were aware of no one completing the loop. The CCC said they believed one of their guys made the crossing at Woods Creek. There were many challenges on top of the lack of intel. Hundreds of downed trees across the trail... snow galore... overgrowth... heat climbing up Bubbs Creek...and every mosquito in existence made this my most challenging run to date.
