Cheap 'Little Torch' - No problem!!

Cheap Little Torch- no problem!! In this video I show you the possible problems with the low-cost gas torch and how to overcome them. I think in the past these torches may have been very poor quality but I think they are getting better now. I purchased what looks like a copy of the American made Smith Little Torch. I got my cheap version from Amazon in the UK for £17.77 (about $22 US) in March 2024. Had I have purchased the American made version from the UK’s leading jewellery makers supplier, at £258 it would have cost over 14.5 times as much! The cheap torch gets bad reviews for reasons that are easily corrected, remember this is a ridiculously cheap torch, it’s not a Rolls Royce! The torch comes with the wrong hose connectors for the UK. I simply brazed the original hose end fitting to a UK sized hose fitting, but I have since seen that Ali Express supply a pair of adaptors with hose barbs (search for “Little Torch Connector with Oxygen Gas, Connector for Smith Little Torch” these connectors would connect to UK size hoses and may help some folks but you’d have to make a connection to two additional hoses with the correct fittings for the gas supplies. The other issue is that the interchangeable nozzle connection leaks, I simply countersunk the end of the tube coming from the body of the torch so that the olive on the nozzle seals well and the problem is dealt with. The cheap torch has a lot of capability and it has become my favourite torch. I will make another video to show you the capability of this wonderful little torch. I might be wrong, but I’m guessing that the original manufacturer didn’t patent or protect their product or Amazon wouldn’t be offering the copy.
