How to do Prasarita Padottanasana A, B, C, & D | Wide Foot Forward Bend in Ashtanga Yoga

One of the hardest parts about the Prasarita Padottanasana sequence is remembering the various vinyasa counts and what breath and movement go together within versions A, B, C, & D. This video will help you understand the differences! In this tutorial, we’re going through all 4 versions (A, B, C, & D) of PRASARITA PADOTTANASANA \ WIDE FOOT FORWARD BEND from Ashtanga’s Fundamental Sequence. You’ll learn the vinyasa cues and Sanskrit count for each version and understand how they differ from each other. We share various alignment tips and ways to meet the conditions of each vinyasa so you’ll understand where to place the arms, how to position your legs, and how to use your core to find more lengthening through the back. Touching on yoga more broadly, we also touch on what the main point of a sadhana, or personal practice, should be. You’ll learn about common mistakes and how to prevent injury (like yoga butt!), and why this pose really allows you to connect more fully to your breath.
