[FORMER WR] ESWC Bonus A-5 - 26.21

EDIT: As it turns out, the former WR is actually 26.31 by POLSKA GUROM (+0.10) driven on 8th June 2021 (   • TmNations ESWC Bonus A-5 26.31 by POL...  ). I genuinely didn't know that, I really thought that the former WR was Shock's run, I completely forgot about POLSKA GUROM's run. With that in mind, the description I wrote when I first released the video is a bit outdated, but I will still keep it as it was because I cba to change anything xd: /* Former WR is 26.47 by Shock (+0.26) driven on 10th January 2015 (   • TmNations ESWC Bonus A-5 26.47 by Sho...  ) TMX link for when TMN-X will be back up: http://nations.tm-exchange.com/main.a... Pretty darn good run, way better than I ever expected in all honesty. As per usual, my goal wasn't initially to get the WR up until a week ago. Why you might ask? Well, since TMN-X is STILL down after a WHOLE 5 months, I wasn't able to play any new TMN Classic map, so I had to resort to playing Nadeo maps again after a whole while. And since I already had good PBs on most of my favourite TMN Nadeo maps, I decided to start improving some of those PBs to make them even better. One of those maps was Bonus A-5, which I decided to play for two main reasons: 1) I had a pretty bad PB from two years ago (a time of 26.73) which I really wanted to improve; 2) It was one of the only TMN Nadeo maps that I could actually play relatively well with a keyboard, making it possible for me to play this map at school aswell, during class breaks, on the classroom laptop's keyboard xD Eventually I would go on to improve my PB to a 26.54, which would've been satisfying enough presuming it wouldn't have been just 0.07 off of Shock's WR. So I had to continue and go for the WR. And after a few more agonizing hours, a .48 run and then a .49 run, I finally got this banger of a run... 26.21... totally unexpected and a very pleasing WR :D The map itself is, of course, difficult. The start is initially very easy: just steer a bit to the right after leaving the start block so you don't fall in the hole, then steer hard right at the right turn and make the jump to the first CP (you can get a landingbug while landing, but it is usually pretty rare). Then comes the first drift, which has to be taken tight and close to the curb, so you get a good angle for the second drift, right after the 2nd CP, and not get a noslide while trying to drift. In my run I took the drift too wide, but eh. When going through CP#3, you want to be as close to the left curb as possible, so that you have the best angle and maximum speed for the right-left-right slalom part (the one that includes CP#4). Once jumping again off the platform, you want to fly straight through CP#5 while having a slight leftwards angle, and start drifting immediately as you land, so you can clear the sharp left-right turn that follows right after CP#5. Then you get through CP#6, which is the last CP of the map, and you perform the last jump of the run and the actual cut of the map: right before jumping, you turn hard left so you can land on the grass between the curb of the track and the inflatable block, while having a leftwards angle. This is important, as not having enough of a leftwards angle can lead to missing the entrance into the finish. If you have a good enough of a leftwards angle, you turn hard left while also trying to avoid the "spikes" at the base of the inflatable block and, if that went well aswell, you turn hard right to finish the run through the front of the finish block. And that is all about this map :D The run is very good, but I do believe that better is possible. With a tighter start, a tighter second drift and a slightly earlier enter onto the finish block, a 26.0x or maybe even a 25.9x (TAS anybody?) could be possible. With all that in mind, cya next time on the next video, which will (probably) be about Bonus A-2 ;) */
